Hello San Clemente Cove Owners

Summer remains in full swing with San Clemente a premium destination for our Owners with many activities to delight and entertain. Our historic seaside landmark, the Casino San Clemente, which has a long tradition of presenting world class live entertainment, is proud to host The Casino’s Summer Nights Jazz Series with events on alternating Thursday nights through September 22.

The annual Blue Whale Migration is here and during the next few months hundreds of blue whales will pass through Southern California. These are the largest animals in the world reaching over 90 feet long. We are also fortunate to have the largest permanent population of dolphins anywhere else in the world right off the coast of Dana Point. Seeing the wildlife out on a boat is an incredible experience described by many of our guests as the highlight of their vacation. The next time you’re at the resort, please don’t miss the Monday Welcome Breakfast as you may win a free trip for two on one of the dolphin and whale watching excursions!

A big change you will notice the next time you’re at the Cove is a reduction in the train noise. We have over forty passenger and freight trains that pass through the city every day at seven beach trail crossings that span more than two miles from San Onofre to North Beach. The train horns have recently been replaced by an electronic simulated horn hidden in stone pillars next to the railroad crossing. The simulated horn is only 80 decibels, while the horns were 112 decibels. This system was approved by the Federal Railroad Administration after the City got other safety measures in place. Warning gates, bells, and flashing lights are still utilized in addition to the simulated horn as a train passes through. Of course, the conductors may occasionally use horns at their discretion; however, it is much quieter here in San Clemente.

The San Clemente Cove is thrilled to welcome our new Executive Housekeeper, Trinidad Nunez, to the team. We appreciate her organizational talents as well as her exceptional customer service focus. She is already proving to be a true asset to the department. Other news from your resort is the Cove is replacing all the key-card swipe door locks with a sensor key system. This type of lock offers many advantages over our previous system. There is no exposed card slots on the unit which helps prevent corrosion by the sea air, rain, and dirt which causes the locks to fail prematurely. Also, there is no wear and tear on the cards because they are waved in-front of the lock and not inserted into a slot. Please let us know what you think after you use the new swipe keys.

We look forward to seeing you soon!
