Red Wolf Lodge at Squaw Valley
Resort Update
December 2017

Hello Red Wolf Lodge at Squaw Valley Owners,

The resort had an outstanding fall and is off to a great start for the winter. Squaw Valley hosted some fantastic events again this season, generating additional Room Revenue and increased occupancy:
  • The ever popular Oktoberfest in North Lake Tahoe is always fun with many Bavarian Activities, including keg rolling, brat toss and stein holding.
  • Spartan Race World Championships was held in Squaw Valley; and again brought over 10,000 participants aiming to conquer the 16.3-mile course with over 30 challenging obstacles. The course wound all over the mountain, including over the top of the Palisades (the peak of the mountain). I was told by many participants that it was the most difficult course they have ever completed.
Squaw Valley/Alpine Meadows are off to one of the best starts to the ski season that I can remember in my 11 years of residence here. The Lake Tahoe area has seen several early storms, many of them being warmer with rain at the base of the mountain, but plenty of snow above 7,000 feet.

With these storms and Squaw Valley’s upgraded snow making equipment, the mountain opened earlier than predicted on November 17. Alpine Meadows opened their Summit chairlift on November 30, which was one of the earliest openings in history. The entire mountain, from top to bottom, is open and the buzz around the area is electrifying!

I will continue to do my “snow dances” and hope storms remain in the forecast to ensure another amazing ski season. Recently, Squaw Valley Ski Holdings, Mammoth Mountain, Intrawest and Aspen Ski Co. all merged. This is very exciting news that could provide many benefits to all in the near future. The merger will now rival Vail and their Epic Pass, which could bring more business to Squaw Valley.

The Front Desk is fully staffed and trained with passionate Associates ready for the upcoming busy winter season. Team members are providing exemplary Guest service, focusing on Grand Pacific Resorts’ core purpose of Enriching Lives by Creating Experiences Worth Sharing. They are excited to see all the Owners and connect with them at our fun weekly activities, which include the Welcome Pancake Breakfast, Guided Snowshoe Hikes, Root Beer Floats, Wine and Cheese Social, Arts and Crafts, S’mores and Cocktail Hour.

The new Clubhouse appliances have been delivered to the resort. The maintenance team installed them and they look marvelous! The remainder of the upgrades, including sofas, lounge chairs and fireplace seat cushions, will be delivered before the end of the year. I’m excited for its completion, as the Clubhouse will have a brand new aesthetic. New spa covers have been ordered and are anticipated to arrive before the holidays.

The resort is in excellent condition and the team is ready for another big winter. I look forward to a great ski season and hope to see you all here to enjoy.

Have a great holiday season!

Warm Regards,
Nick Batliner
